Rahala Waterfalls

Rahala is a majestic waterfall resulting from the melting of glaciers. It is situated 16 kms from Manali, on the way to Rhotang pass. The water cascades from an altitude of 2,501m.The Rahala fall truly represent the Himalayan ecstasy. It is an ideal picnic spot.  Bhutnar, about 50 kms from Manali is the nearest airport. Buses from manali to the waterfall are available.

Tattapani

Tattapani is situated on the banks of the Sutlej River. This waterfall has hot water sulphur spring. This spring is of medicinal value as it is known to cure many diseases. There are flights to Tattapani, with the nearest airport being Jubbal hatti, which is approximately 45 kms from the area. One can also go by train, the nearest railway station being that of shimla (narrow gauge), about 23 kms from tattapani. One can also hire private cars or buses or taxis from manali, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Machhrial Falls

Machhrial Falls is around 25 kilometers from Dharamsala, on the Dharamsala-Pathankot road. It is a very famous tourist spot. Machhrial Falls is known for its mesmering, breathtaking elegance. One just cannot have enough of this place. This waterfall is every tourists delight. You cannot afford to miss this waterfall. There are taxis available to take you to this enthralling waterfall.

Bhagsu Falls

Bhagsu waterfall is a 30 feet frolicking waterfall located in Bhagsunag, a small village located at an altitude of 6,960 feet above the sea level. There is a Shiva temple barely one km from the waterfall. One can go to the temple by walking. The Bhagsunag village is barely 2 kms from McLeod Ganj in the Kangra district. Gaggal is the nearest airport.  One can also board a bus from Delhi to McLeod Ganj.   Auto rickshaws and taxis are available from McLeod Ganj to Bhagsunag village.

However, to avoid traffic, walking is always a better option. The best time to visit the waterfall in during the monsoon, when the fall is at its best with water in full flow.

Badri Waterfalls

Badri waterfall is a small hot water fall located in Solan valley in Himachal Pradesh. This waterfall is surrounded by snow clad mountains and heavy rocks on either side. The source of the Badri waterfall is the ice cold water from the Alaknanda River. It is believed that the Alaknanda River has medicinal values. Just below the valley is the famous Badrinath Temple. This waterfall surrounded with snow, with misty and foggy clouds covering the place is a pleasure to watch. When viewed from far, the waterfall looks like a stream with milk passing through it. Air services are available, the nearest airport being Jolly Grant in Dehradun.  One can also travel by train; the nearest railway station is in Rishikesh.

Sissu waterfall is an exotic waterfall. It is located about 25 km from Gramphu, Manali. It is barely 15-20 minutes from the Leh highway. The Sissu waterfall casts a magical spell with its breath taking view and abundant greenery. It is believed to be the longest and most enigmatic waterfall in the Northern India. The waterfall is believed to have originated from the glaciers in the Young Himalayas. One can hire luxury taxis that run from Naggar to Sissu via Rohtak pass.

Chadwick Waterfall

Chadwick waterfall is located 7 km west of the ridge from Shimla and 2 km from Summer Hill. This serene and beautiful waterfall is at an altitude of 1,568m. Water gushing down the Chadwick waterfall echoed throughout the region few centuries ago. It was a sight of aquatic spectacle. The best time to visit this waterfall is during or just after the monsoon. There are regular air services between Delhi and Shimla. There are trains connecting Shimla with Kalka. You can also board buses, taxis from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Mandi running on this route.

Bundla Waterfall

Bundla waterfall is located in the Kangra valley of Palampur. This waterfall spins a majestic charm on its viewers with water flowing from a height of 100 meters, down into the Bundla River. This magnificent waterfall is surrounded by dense forests, cliffs and tea gardens. The waterfall is 2 km from Palampur. Gaggal is the nearest airport, about 37 km from Palampur. Pathankot is the nearest railway station from Palampur.

Palani Waterfalls

Palani is a majestic high surge waterfall in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is located about 6 km north of the famous Bijli Mahadev Temple. Watching the water fall from a height of 492 feet, combined with the cool breeze and the icy rivulets hitting the body is mesmerising and gives an adrenaline rush. A fair is held in March, where thousands of devotees take a dip in the waterfall. The nearest airport is the Kullu-Manali airport. Kullu is also well connected by road.

Renuka Lake

Known as the largest lake of Himachal Pradesh, Renuka Lake is one of the most famous Lakes. Located in Sirmouir district of Himachal Pradesh, Renuka Lake is nearly 45 km away from Nahan. The overall perimeter of this lake is nearly 3200 metres. The shape of this lake resembles that of a woman lying down. This is explained as the symbol of goddess Renuka. A temple dedicated to goddess Renuka is present near this lake.

Maharana Pratap Sagar Lake

This famous lake of Himachal Pradesh is located in kangra district near 100 km from Dharamshala. This lake as the name suggest was a tribute to the great patriot Maharana Pratap Singh. Nearly 100 villages are scattered around this lake. A wildlife Sanctuary is also present near this lake. Different types of boating activities also take place in this lake. Peddle boats, Speed boats and other boats are also available in this lake. Different boating courses are also done in this lake.

Gobind Sagar

This well known lake of Himachal Pradesh is named after the tenth Sikh guru Gobind Singh. The huge hydel dam of Bhakhra is sole responsible for creating this lake. This lake is located in Bilaspur and Una district. At present, this lake supplies electricity and water to the huge area surrounding this lake. Different water sports are available in this lake like river water rafting, boating and many more.

Chandra Tal Lake

This blue water lake is situated at an elevation of 4300 metres. Chandra River of Lahual and Spiti region is the source of this lake. The total circumference of this lake is 2.5 km. According to the Hindu Legend it is from this place where Lord Indra took the eldest Pandava brother Yudhistra to heaven.

Khajjiar Lake

This is one of the smallest lakes of Himachal Pradesh. Located at a height of 1900 meters in Chamba district, this lake is nearly few km away from Dalhousie. The great Khajjiar glade surrounds this lake. Both the glade and the lake are considered to be sacred since they are dedicated to khajjinag.

Chamera Lake

This lake is situated in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The Chamera Dam located on River Ravi is the source of this lake. Apart from supplying electricity to the nearby region this lake also supports different water sports like rafting, boating and many more.

Dashir Lake
