During this fair, the main deity of this region, Shoolinin Mata is worshipped and several events are organized.

Chamba

Sirmour

Baralacha La Pass

Baralacha La Pass is a must visit for the tourist who loves unusual natural wonders. Translated into English this name means “Pass with cross roads on its summit”. The Pass is at a whooping 4883 meters of altitude and may present some breathing problems for tourists who have not yet been acclimatized. There are roads converging from three exotic destinations here; Spiti, Ladakh and Lahaul out which the one from Spiti is just a thin path. The three magnificent rivers Yamuna, Chandra and Bhaga also originate from here from where they flow to fertilize Himachal through 3 separate valleys. It’s an amazing experience to stand on the Pass and gaze at three different roads to civilization.

Panchpula Bridges

Panchpula is one of the most beautiful places in Himachal and it is also known as hamlet of Bridges. The first thing however that will catch your eye is the magnificent waterfall in panchpula which pools down into several small streams. There are 5 bridges in Panchpula leading to different destinations which has given this place its name. The whole town of Dalhousie is fed crystal clear water from several streams which originate from the Panchpula waterfall.

Pin Valley

If you want to catch a glimpse of the magnificent snow leopard in its natural setting then do visit the Pin Valley. Maximum snow leopard sightings as well as Ibex sightings have happened in this valley. This majestic valley is formed by the Pin River which rises on the east slope of Parbati Pin Pass and it meets the river Spiti opposite the picturesque Lingti Village. Pin Valley is of great geographical importance as one can pass over to the fertile Parvati Valley, the beautiful Kinnaur district and the rough Spiti valley all of which lie in 3 different directions. Pin Valley is at a very high altitude and it’s a protected area as declared by Indian Government.

Dainkund Peak

Dalhousie; the famous hill station of Himachal Pradesh is situated midway on the Dainkund hill. Amongst the many charming treks of Dalhousie; the trek to Dainkund Peak is one of the easiest and prettiest. This trek requires hardly 2 km worth of hiking which you can easily accomplish with small children too. Once up the peak; your breath will be blown away by the sheer beauty of this place. The famous Pohlani Mata (a Pahari Goddess) temple is situated here. Sip on tea and onion Pakora while admiring the glorious setting sun from this peak.

Keylong Hamlet

Keylong was once the district headquarters of Lahaul Spiti and is still the abode of the very rare Moravian missionaries. The astounding natural beauty of this hamlet will bewitch you and you will not be able to keep your camera away. The specialty of Keylong is the miles and miles of Edelweiss which grows here and the weeping Willow forests which give the place a fairytale look. Moravian bards still sing ancient hymns here in the lap of nature. The monasteries of Shadhur, Tayul and Khardong also lie nearby.

Tabo Caves

Tabo Caves are full of ancient paintings and inscriptions; some of which dates back to the Caveman era. If you are a lover of history then this is a priceless experience for you. Kufri Hamlet

Kufri is a small hamlet about 11 km to the North of Shimla. It is populated by the Indo Nepaleese population and is home to a lot of natural attractions like pretty springs and small hillocks. Dhaula Kuan in Nahan

The beautiful Dhaula Kuan is a major tourist attraction. It is surrounded by orchards which include mangoes and citrus plants and is located on the Paonta Sahib Road. Dhaula Kuan is known for a food processing factory processing a variety of fruit juices, canned fruits, pickles and fruit jams. Dhaula Kuan has a research centre that works on tropical fruit.

Dhauladhar Nature Park is situated about 13 km from Palampur. It is also known as Gopalpur Zoo. Spread over 30 acres, it is a must visit for every nature and wildlife lovers. The Dhauladhar Nature Park is set up and maintain by the Wildlife Department. The nearest airport is at Gaggal.

Himalayan Nature Park in Kufri

Himalayan Nature Park, Kufri, at an altitude of over 2600 metres is a beautiful park situated about 18 km from Shimla. It is spread over an area of 90 hectares and has a rich biodiversity. It is famous for a variety of Himalayan flora and fauna that includes bears snow leopards, pheasants, barking deer, and Tibetan wolves. Many herbs, variety of orchids, primula are also present. Deodar, Oak, Fir and Blue pine trees ornaments the forest of this nature park. Buses are available from Shimla to Himalayan Nature Park. Taxis are also available.

Shivalik Fossil Park in Nahan

Shivalik Fossil Park is located in Saketi along the border of Saket village. This park is about 14 km from Nahan. It came into existence in 1974 to preserve the fossil sites. It is maintained by the Geological Survey of India. This fossil park has models of primitive and extinct animals dating back to 1 to 2.5 million years.

 Ecological Park in Potter Hill

Situated at an altitude of 2050 metres, Camp Potter Hill is just 1 km from the picturesque Summer Hill. For the adventurous soul, there is trekking. The Potter Hill is about 5 km west of Shimla. The nearest airport is at Jubbarhati, which is about 23 km from Shimla. One can also go there by car. Van Vihar is located at the end of the Manali Mall Road in front of the Tibetan market. River Beas flows by its side. Tourists can go for boating in a beautiful lake present in this park. Cactus Garden in Parwanoo

The beautiful Cactus Garden is situated at a distance of about 22.3 km from Parwanoo. It is adjacent to the Panchkula Interstate Bus Terminus. The garden is believed to be the largest Cactus Garden in Asia housing about 3,500 species of cacti. The Cactus Garden is of great importance to botanists. Spread over 7 acres of land, the garden was set up by Dr. J.S Sarkaria in 1987 and boasts of some rare and extinct species of cacti. It also has three well maintained greenhouses.
