The state of Himachal Pradesh lies on the foot hills of Himalayas. Most of the area of the state is covered by
hills; hence it is difficult to construct broad gauge railway tracks.
Few places of the state are connected by narrow gauze railway tracks.
The Kalka-Shimla Railway track crosses a distance of 96 kilometers. It
passes through 102 tunnels and 864 bridges. The panoramic view of Kalka-Shimla Railway track is known to be an engineering marvel of India.
